PodSkool teachers are trained in a variety of educational approaches, and work with our Director of Education to customize a curriculum just for you and your kids.
A Program and Curriculum Tailored to Your Pod’s Needs
PodSkool matches families with teachers who support and facilitate any requested curriculum—school-issued or other. We match your family with a Credentialed Preschool or Elementary School teacher experienced in your preferred educational approaches, including Play-Based, Montessori, Waldorf, Regio Emilia, and more. Our teachers are trained and ready to teach in-person or remotely, and can accommodate requests for language immersion programs, faith-based education, arts, music and physical education.
Customized Play-Based Curriculum
(Optional)
For pods not working with a school-issued curriculum, we offer a Learn & Play curriculum that teaches developmentally appropriate concepts that focus on cognitive, social and emotional growth.
For younger children, traditional academic concepts are integrated into Learn & Play sessions, with teachers engaging children in activities and projects relevant to them.
This emergent Play-Based and STEAM-focused curriculum is adaptable to all learning styles and is available either as the primary curriculum or as a supplement to the pod’s curriculum of choice.
STEAM Education
PodSkool teachers can guide children to learn and play using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) as touch points for dialogue and exploration. STEAM play-based learning helps children increase their ability to:
- Experiment
- Meaningfully collaborate
- Critically think
- Question
- Problem solve
- Be creative
The STEAM approach helps children learn skills relevant to the 21st century including innovation, self-advocacy, self-help, resiliency, gender and racial equality and inclusivity.
Emergent Curriculum
PodSkool teachers integrate Emergent Curriculum processes while supporting and facilitating any desired curriculum.
Emergent Curriculum is a process through which teachers plan activities and projects based on the specific group of children they are working with, taking into account their skills, needs, and interests. PodSkool strives to have each child develop their love of learning, and be an active participant within their small pod and greater community. With teachers modeling kind, open, calm and curious behavior, the children mirror and learn similar values.
A Day With PodSkool
Children thrive with consistency and knowing what to expect everyday. PodSkool teachers make sure to provide children a routine while completing key elements of their education in every session. A session will incorporate a combination of activities tailored to your pod’s needs and preferences.
These activities can include:
- Support and facilitation of your requested curriculum
- Open-ended exploration & play
- STEM
- Literacy
- Movement
- Music
- Art
